Will Sonoran Echoes’ programs play on my computer?
They
should play fine as long as your computer has Windows Media Player
installed. Almost all PC’s currently come with (have for several years) Windows
Media Player installed.
Our audio files are .wma files specifically because
of their widespread accessibility. Even Mac’s will play .wma files.
Why does the dial-up connection
sound different than the broadband
(hi-speed) connection?
They are different files with different streaming
rates. The dial-up connection is set to stream slowly enough (in this case
20kb/sec) to allow continuous playback on your PC with minimal re-buffering.
Dial-up Internet connections only allow much slower data transfer and faster streaming rates would continually be re-buffering. Our broadband (Hi-speed) connection is considered “CD” quality.
Which “Play Now” connection should I use?
Always use the broadband connection UNLESS
you have a dial-up internet connection. In that case then, of course, use the
dial-up connection.
Why do we do this? (short
answer)
Because it needs done! These songs rarely get played
anywhere (publicly) and deserve to be heard. And because musical culture of
this type is “thirsted” for around the globe---
We should be exporting our finest
musical art rather than the largely “garbage” that corporate media foists on
the world’s senses!
Why “approximately” two hour long programs?
Our best
guess as to the correct ratio of creativity to attention span. Long enough to
allow Laramie to “create” without loss of inspiration----
not long enough to totally exceed the attention spans of true music enthusiasts. Also it’s the length of a “good” live concert!
How should I listen to these programs?
However
you like! Our programs are created as a two-hour continuous performance and
therefore any “mood” or “intensity” changes correspond accordingly.
Particularly in the latter case as some programs due tend to build in intensity
toward conclusion, or then maybe just “peter out” Ha! Ha! Ha! We
just appreciate your listening and only point out that the last set is
intended to be some sort of dramatic musical conclusion. Judge for yourselves.
What’s with the goofy (non-sensical) Program titles
and weird descriptions?
As
each Program is completely unique and original—and a way was needed to
differentiate the various Programs, and we are not creative enough to come up
with catchy titles, and are far too simple-minded to just number them or
something logical---this was the result!
As for the descriptions----------they are our intent to somehow convey the musical “mood” or “muse-content” of each particular show! Seriously. We mean this sincerely! Stop laughing!
How often do you post a new musical offering?
It
varies. Partially due to time, inspiration, need, and our ability to round Laramie up and prod him into pulling it all together somehow.
Is it possible to receive notification when a new
Program has been posted?
Sure!
Just drop us an E-Mail requesting such. Include the E-Mail address for notification and we’ll let you know when there is a new Entrée!
